mclain turns two...birthday breakfast

because i took a ridiculous amount of pictures, i'm breaking down mclain's birthday celebration. let's start with his birthday breakfast of champions...chocolate donut holes with sprinkles! 

when we celebrate mclain's birthday, we're also celebrating when matt and i went from being just husband and wife to being pops and tootie. and i can speak for both of us, this is the roll we were born for. it's the best job in the world and there is no one else we'd rather spend our days, nights, weekends, roadtrips, adventures, holidays and especially birthday celebrations than with our children. mclain made me a mama and i'm so thankful for these past two years, they've been the best two years i could ever ask for and so much more than i ever dreamed possible.

mclain, we celebrate you, not only on march 1st but every day. because we are thankful for you every.single.day.

this past weekend we took a trip to the texas tech museum for a valentine craft event. we passed a set of stairs on the way to the craft room and i was wearing aplin. needless to say, our craft time lasted all of 4 1/2 minutes.  there is little crafting to be done when you have an 18 pound, grabby-hand baby attached to the front of you. not to mention a boy so focused on the stairs he hadn't climbed, he didn't even try to eat the glue or put beads up his nose. 

i decided to forget the craft and let mclain explore the museum. life is so much easier when you don't have an agenda and you're just along for the ride. with that said, mclain you lead and aplin and i will follow.

snow day + a new job

winter days are so much better with snow on the ground.

i am so excited about a new opportunity for our family!

i got a job at a local kids day out program. it's 2 days a week. 

i'm working at the front desk, which means i get to hold aplin and peek in on mclain whenever i want. 

mclain gets to go to music class and learn how to share fun toys with his new friends and aplin gets to cruise around the church in a stretch stroller!

Dorothy Aplin -- Six Months

today, at 4:49, she will be 6 months old.

she is healthy.

she is happy.

she is a blessing.

she is more than i could have ever dreamed of.

she is sitting up.

she hasn't quite grasped this whole 'solid foods' concept.

she loves her feet.

she smiles, and the room lights up.

she is very vocal.

she is rolling all around and hates every minute of it.

she is my best friend.

and a few more, because i just can't help myself.
